THE BOLD STEP

This is a story about two girls who grew up in Ireland in the early 2000s.
Bronwen and Martha have known each other since they were two. They are now twenty-two. After conversations with the women who raised them, Freshly Ground Theatre creates a light-hearted, nostalgic exploration of the nature of memory, and the changing definitions of girlhood, womanhood and motherhood. Using their shared movement language and with the help of their mothers and their babysitter, Bronwen and Martha remember and misremember their lives through a changing Ireland, and a rapidly changing world.
